Yang Jiechang (1956 – ) was born in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China. He graduated from the School of Traditional Chinese Painting at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1982, and then continued to stay at his alma mater for a teaching position after graduation. He has been living and working both in Paris and in Heidelberg since 1988.
In 1989, he participated in the China/Avant-Garde Exhibition held at the National Art Museum of China and produced on-the-spot work in Les magiciens de la Terre coming off at le Centre Georges Pompidou. Afterwards, he has been taking part in important international exhibitions for several times and having his solo exhibitions at the major museums around the world.
